About Us

Steve Simpson – Director of US Operations

I’ve been privileged to hold various roles within eDOCS and OpenText over the years, each contributing to a deep and unparalleled level of expertise. My passion for eDOCS and its ongoing success has been a driving force throughout my career.

My journey with eDOCS began in 1999 as a Level 1 Support Technician. I was soon promoted to the Add-on team, where I became a product expert for both eDOCS and the OEM Search Server. Years later, I became the first member of the eDOCS Level 3 (L3) Team, a role that allowed me to delve even deeper into the product.

Eventually, I joined the Enterprise Architecture Team as the sole global eDOCS Product and Infrastructure Architect. In this role, starting in 2005, I spearheaded initiatives to ensure eDOCS was Cloud-ready, paving the way for its integration with Microsoft Azure. Later, I returned to the eDOCS L3 Team as a Senior L3 Support Engineer, where I contributed to the development of many features still present in the product today.

Some of the key innovations I conceived, designed, and presented to Development and Product Management include:

  • eDOCS Management Studio
  • DM Drive (later rebranded as Sync & Save)
  • eDOCS DM Server Monitor (enabling load balancer compatibility for eDOCS servers)
  • InfoCenter (I wrote and demoed the first titled interface in eDOCS)
  • Modern Forms (WPF)
  • eDOCS DM Extensions Registry Deployment
  • eDOCS Search Server Indexer Backup and Restore Utility
  • Protocol Performance Utility
  • eDOCS SSL Certification Utility
  • eDOCS MSI Command-line Builder

Following these contributions, I was promoted to eDOCS L3 Manager, where I expanded the team from being U.S.-centric to a globally distributed group, working across regions from the UK to Australia. My expertise led to an invitation to join the OpenText Microsoft Partner team, providing the resources to shape eDOCS into the Azure-ready platform it is today.

As the first Director of eDOCS Professional Services, a role granted by SVP James McGourlay, I established the OpenText eDOCS Global PS team. This unified all eDOCS Professional Services resources into a single, cohesive team for the first time. Under my leadership, we executed OpenText’s first eDOCS Azure deployments, laying the foundation for the Azure model used today.

Today, I’m excited to bring my expertise and passion for eDOCS to a broader audience. I am now available to collaborate directly with customers, offering my skills and experience to help them unlock the full potential of eDOCS and ensure their success. Whether you’re looking to optimize your current setup, transition to the cloud, or explore new capabilities, I’m here to help guide you every step of the way.
